You will be rewarded with a Protoss Trophy after achieving this mission. 2-3 Science Vessels combined with 15-20 Wraiths make this mission a cakewalk-focus-fire on detectors (Overseers and Spore Crawlers are common), cloak and enjoy the carnage. Wraiths are also very quick, so stopping infestations is trivial (though beware that Science Vessels are far slower than Wraiths). Since Wraiths do not have to choose between anti-air and anti-ground, you do not have to worry about whether switching to Assault Mode will lose you some units due to missing a single Mutalisk. If you have completed Engine of Destruction and thus have the Wraith available in addition to choosing the Science Vessel (Protoss research), this mission becomes easier. Remember to make another nuclear missile after destroying a Virophage and to cloak your Spectre or Ghost to be safe. If you have Spectres or Ghosts, one nuke easily takes down a building Virophage, and 90% of the units around it. Ultralisks might occasionally attack from the north and Brood Lords from the south both are excellent catches, and mind controlling them will save you a lot of pain. If you can stop the Zerg from claiming any additional colonies, this mission shouldn't prove too difficult.īy the way, if you happen to have Hive Mind Emulators, you can just place one at each entrance to your base. Just spread out your units and focus fire it down. Be careful at the northern one though, as there is an Ultralisk there that will rip through your Marines if you're not careful. If you've been keeping up with your upgrades, no Zerg base should pose a problem. You should then build up another 24 unit infantry ball, and use that to destroy the primary Zerg bases. After you get around a 24 unit infantry ball, you should combine those with your Viking force, and use that to primarily hunt down infested colonies. Once you've cleared out half of the Brood Lords, you can then charge in with your Infantry ball, as your Medics should easily heal any damage done to your Marines.įrom this point on, whenever you see a colony getting infested, you want to rush to save them, as you don't want to deal with any additional flood of units. Whenever you see Mutalisks start to move toward your Vikings, you should run them back to your Infantry ball, as Vikings aren't too effective against Mutalisks. Move down with your infantry ball and Vikings, and use your Vikings to perform hit and run attacks on the Brood Lords. Ensure that you keep some defense force at home, as at points during the mission, the Zerg will be attacking your main base. You're going to want to save them immediately, as once the Virophage finishes, you'll have to deal with a stream of infested units converging on your base. Soon, you'll get a message that the colonists to the south of your base are being infected. Once that base falls, you want to build up your economy and wait a while. Once that base is destroyed, the attacks against your main base should cease for now. Be careful when destroying the buildings though, as they'll spawn Broodlings when destroyed, so you might want to change your Vikings into air units to avoid them. Your 3 Vikings, soon to become 4, should be able to easily take out any resistance that they meet with. There's no anti-air there, so first take out all the Brood Lords, then proceed to land your Vikings and destroy the base. You'll want to focus on attack upgrades for your infantry and Vikings.Īs the mission starts, start building another Viking and send your first 3 Vikings to the closest infested base. You don't need any more than 6 Vikings at most. Your primary unit composition during this mission should be Marine/ Medic, with some Marauders and Vikings as support. You start off this mission at the 9 o'clock position on the map, with some SCVs, 3 Vikings, 2 Firebats, and 4 Marines. You can build Vikings starting from this mission.
